Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
-
No. Your Professional Continuity Plan is an operational document, not a legal one. It doesn't replace a will or estate plan - for those, you'll want an estate attorney. This plan handles the practical side: making sure your clients are notified and referred if you are incapacitated.
-
No. Unlike our clinical-practitioner sister service, coaching isn't a licensed profession in most states, so there's no requirement for attorney review. You can complete your plan entirely online.
-
Yes - the coaching plan is available nationwide, regardless of where you practice.
What’s Covered
-
Your trusted contact activates your plan. In the base plan, they use the CRM access you've set up in advance, along with the notification template and referral preferences from your intake, to reach out to your clients and manage wind-down themselves. We can guide them along the way. If you've added Client Notification & Access, our team handles the outreach and wind-down directly, using your shared client list and/or Credential Vault.
-
The base plan is built around death or permanent incapacitation. If you want coverage for shorter-term situations - an sudden illness, a family emergency - that's the Temporary Unavailability add-on ($125/activation), which activates a "we're temporarily unreachable" notice and referrals if appropriate to clients instead of a full wind-down.
-
Coaches aren't HIPAA-covered entities, so HIPAA doesn't apply here. That said, your plan and any stored credentials are still kept secure - we just don't carry the clinical compliance overhead that wouldn't apply to your practice anyway.
Client Access & the CRM Problem
-
This is exactly the problem we built the service around. In the base plan, we guide you through adding your trusted contact as a secondary admin on your CRM, so they have direct access when it's needed. If you'd rather our team handle client outreach directly instead of your trusted contact, add Client Notification & Access - that gives us a shared client list and/or a securely stored login and 2FA code to reach clients ourselves.
-
It's how you upgrade from "my trusted contact reaches out" to "PCP's team reaches out directly." It can include a shared client list export, our Credential Vault (encrypted storage of your CRM login and TOTP 2FA secret), or both - accessed only if your plan is activated, and never before.
-
No. It's optional. Many coaches are comfortable with their trusted contact handling outreach directly using CRM secondary-admin access, which is included in the base plan.
The add-on is available as an option in case you’re unsure of who to list as your trusted contact, or you want to alleviate some of the administrative burden from them.
Plan Logistics
-
Yes - we prompt you for an annual review so the document never goes stale, and you can update your information anytime your practice changes (new CRM, new trusted contact, etc.).
-
You can cancel anytime. If you cancel, your stored plan and any vaulted credentials are deleted.
-
A document alone doesn't guarantee your trusted contact has seen it, knows what to do, or has the access needed to act when the time comes. We give you a structured plan, prompt you to keep it current, and set up the access your trusted contact actually needs - the doc is the artifact, not the whole plan.
